Name:Agent 007; Vesper Lynd
Top class secret agent Vesper Lynd travels the world finding and often disposing of England's enemies wherever they may be hiding. She never stays in one place; or with one man for very long. Mainly because her heart has been wounded since the betrayal and then death of her dearest love. A fetching MI6 Intelligence Department Operative named James Bond.

Background: Orphaned at a young age Ms. Lynd was sent away to a home for wayward children. She lived a relatively poor life there however the kind people there managed to put together enough money to get her into a school for girls. Where she quickly learned that she was an excellent marksman. She parlayed this ability into eventually gaining entrance into a military academy and from there moved up through the ranks until finally, in her late twenties she was promoted to a position in MI6. By this time she had proven herself cold and efficient in her job and soon after she earned her 00 status.

Casino Royale:

After killing a traitorous MI6 section chief who had been selling classified information—and the station chief's contact, Vesper Lynd received her double-0 status. She was then sent to Madagascar in pursuit of an international bomb-maker named Mollaka. After chasing the man through the streets of Madagascar to an embassy, Lynd killed her target, escaping the scene by setting off an explosion. Searching through Mollaka's mobile phone, Lynd discovered a text message with the mysterious title “elipsus”, which she then traced to Solange Dimitrios, an associate of banker; and her terrorist financier La Chiffre. La Chiffre's investments involved short-selling stock in successful companies and then engineering terrorist attacks to sink their share prices.

Next Lynd traveled to the Bahamas where Dimitrios owned a beach house. There she met with and seduced Solange’s husband, Alex Dimitrios. She takes Alex back to her own place but their fun is interrupted when he receives a phone call. Upon hanging up with the caller, Alex revealed that his wife was flying to Miami that night, so Lynd left him to pursue the Woman. After arriving in Miami 007 killed Dimitrios and followed La Chiffre's henchman Carlos to Miami International Airport. There, Lynd foiled La Chiffre's plan to destroy the prototype Skyfleet airliner.

Left with a huge loss and under pressure to recoup the terrorist clients' money, La Chiffre set up a high-stakes Texas hold 'em tournament at the Casino Royale in Montenegro. Hoping that a defeat would force La Chiffre to aid the British government in exchange for protection from creditors, MI6 had Vesper enter into the tournament. On the train to Montenegro, Lynd met James Bond, a British Agent from the Intelligence department whose role was to watch Lynd’s back during the mission. He was also to provide counter surveillance. James was traveling with a member of the treasury who’s job it was to look out for the government's interests, specifically the $10 million buy-in; on her arrival at the hotel, Lynd met with local MI6 contact René Mathis, whom she had worked with before and greeted fondly. Together with Bond Mathis discovered that the room Lynd was staying in had been bugged prior to their arrival and they began a nightly session feeding false intel to the listeners who were stationed in the room directly above Lynds.

During the course of the tournament, Lynd nearly went bankrupt playing against La Chiffre and the loss of money brought her into conflict with Bond. They argued over the matter though they got nowhere. Frustrated by her failure, Lynd resolved to assassinate La Chiffre. However before she could, a fellow player revealed herself as CIA agent Felicity Leiter, who offered to stake Lynd in exchange for custody of La Chiffre. Back in the game, Lynd began to amass chips. La Chiffre attempted to kill Lynd, her boy toy Valencio poisoning Lynd's drink, but she survived with the help of Bond. Vesper then went on to win the tournament, and the winnings were deposited into a Swiss bank account. Soon afterward, La Chiffre abducted Bond, using him as bait to capture Lynd.

La Chiffre tortured Lynd for the bank account's password, but was interrupted by Mr. White, who killed her. Lynd lost consciousness shortly after. But awakened in a hospital on Lake Como some time later. Where she had Mathis, whom La Chiffre identified as a double agent, arrested. During her convalescence Lynd was visited many times by James and finally admited that she was in love with him, posting her resignation to M soon after. The couple traveled to Venice, where Lynd learned that her winnings were never deposited in the Treasury's account. Realising that the suddenly absent James was in the process of stealing them, she pursued him and the men to whom he gave the money. She followed them into a building under renovation, kept from sinking only by inflatable supports. A gunfight ensued and the supports were punctured. Lynd killed the men and tried to rescue James, but he locked himself in an iron-frame lift and allowed himself to drown as the building sank. As Vesper tried in vain to revive him, Mr. White, watched from a nearby balcony, walking away with the money shortly after.

Lynd rejoined the service after that and M informed her that James had a French-Algerian girlfriend who had been kidnapped by the organization behind La Chiffre and Mr. White. They used the threat of his girlfriend’s life to blackmail him into working as a Double Agent, giving over many of the Intelligence departments’ secrets in exchange for his girlfriend remaining unharmed. She was then told that James only agreed to deliver the money in exchange for saving Lynd's life. Examining James’ phone Vesper discovered a text from James with White's name and mobile phone number, which she used to find White. After wounding and capturing White, she introduced herself:

"The name's Lynd — Vesper Lynd."

Quantum of Solace:

Vesper Lynd was driving from Lago di Garda to Siena, Italy, with the captured Mr. White in the boot of her car. After evading pursuers, Lynd and M interrogated White regarding his organization; Quantum. M's bodyguard, Michelle, a double agent, attacked M, enabling White to escape. Lynd chased Michelle and killed her. Lynd and M then returned to London and searched Michelle's flat, discovering through tagged banknotes that Michelle had a contact in Haiti. Lynd tracked the contact, Edmund Slate, and learned that Slate was a hitman sent to kill Medrano Montes at the behest of his lover, environmentalist Donna Greene. While observing his subsequent meeting with Greene, Lynd learned that Greene was helping an exiled Bolivian General; Camille—who had murdered Medrano's family—to overthrow his government in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of desert.

After rescuing Medrano from Camille, Lynd followed Greene to a performance of Tosca in Bregenz, Austria. En route, the CIA head of the South American section, Gregg Beam, struck a non-interference deal with Greene to maintain access to assumed stocks of Bolivian oil. Lynd infiltrated Quantum's meeting at the opera, and a gunfight ensued. A Special Branch bodyguard of Quantum member Guy Haines, an advisor to the British Prime Minister, was killed while in combat with Lynd, and M—after Lynd refused to obey orders to return home and debrief—had her passports and credit cards revoked.

Lynd convinced her old ally René Mathis to accompany her to Bolivia. At the La Paz airport, they were greeted by Strawberry Fields, an MI6 officer, who demanded that Lynd return to the UK immediately; nonetheless, Lynd soon seduced her before they attend a party Greene would be holding that night. At the party, Lynd again rescued Medrano from Greene. But as they were leaving, Lynd and Medrano were pulled over by Bolivian police working for Camille. They had earlier attacked Mathis and put him in the boot of Lynd's car to frame her; and, in the ensuing struggle, Mathis was killed. The following day, Lynd and Medrano moved out to survey Quantum's intended land acquisition by air. However their plane was shot down after a brief air battle and they ended up skydiving out of the burning plane into a sinkhole. In the cave, Lynd and Medrano discovered Quantum was damming Bolivia's supply of fresh water to create a monopoly. Back in La Paz, Lynd met with M and learned that Quantum murdered Fields by drowning her in crude oil. Furious that Lynd’s dalliance had cost Fields her life, M ordered Lynd arrested for disobeying orders. She escaped, but risked being recaptured by doubling back to tell M that Fields demonstrated bravery in the field. This act was enough to convince M that Lynd could be trusted.

Vesper then when to meet with CIA agent Felicity Leiter, who disclosed that Greene and Camille would be meeting in the Atacama Desert to finalize the coup. Warned by Leiter, she was able to evade the CIA's Special Activities Division, who were attempting to kill her. At the hotel, Greene and Camille negotiated their terms. Greene then finally revealed her true plans: now in control of the majority of Bolivia's water supply, Greene was able to force Camille to accept a new contract making Greene Planet Bolivia's sole water utility company at significantly higher rates. Lynd infiltrated the hotel, killing the Chief of Police for betraying Mathis, and confronted Greene. The hotel was destroyed during the ensuing struggle; and while Lynd battled Greene Medrano found his way to General Camille’s room, where he killed her and avenged the murders of his parents and brother. Lynd captured Greene and After interrogating her about Quantum, left the Woman stranded in the middle of the desert with only a can of engine oil. Once they made it back to their vehicle, Medrano expressed that he wished he could save Lynd from the pain she kept inside. Her reaction to this sentiment was to give him a warm and gratefully passionate kiss before they parted.

Afterward, Lynd traveled to Kazan, Russia, where she found James Bond's former lover, Ursula Kabira, with a new target, a Canadian agent. Ursula was a member of Quantum who seduced men with valuable connections. Lynd decided not to kill Ursula and allowed MI6 to arrest her instead. Outside, M informed Lynd that Greene was found in the middle of the desert dead, shot twice and with engine oil in her stomach; Lynd denied knowing anything. However M also revealed that Leiter had been promoted and had taken Beam's place. M offered to reinstate Lynd as an agent; and Vesper tells M that she never left. As she left the scene, Lynd removed a necklace from her pocket that James had kept as a memento of his false lover. As an act of closure, she dropped the necklace into the snow, leaving it behind as she walked away.

Skyfall:

In Istanbul, MI6 agents Vesper Lynd and Gareth were chasing the mercenary Patrice, who had stolen a computer hard drive containing details of undercover agents placed in terrorist organizations by NATO states. Patrice wounded Lynd in the shoulder as the two fought atop a train. Having finally caught up, Gareth attempted to get into position to shoot Patrice. However there wasn’t a clear shot and Gareth was concerned that he would hit Lynd instead. M insisted however, telling him to “Take the bloody shot”. Obeying M’s command Gareth fired and just as he feared; shot Lynd instead, which allowed Patrice to escape with the hard drive. Lynd was shunted off the side of the train as it passed over a bridge, falling into a river and then disappearing into some swift white water. Missing, she was presumed dead.

In the aftermath of the operation, M, the head of MI6, came under political pressure to retire from Eve, the Intelligence and Security Committee Chairman. While returning from the meeting, MI6's servers were breached and M received a taunting message via computer moments before the offices exploded. The blast killed a number of employees and MI6 was forced to relocate to an emergency office that had been preparred underground. Lynd, having used her supposed death to retire, learned of the attack and immediately returned to London. Whereupon she broke into M’s house and waited. M found Vesper there and informed her brusquely that her flat had been sold and her things put into storage, as she was unmarried, with no other family, and presumed deceased. Lynd was then put through a series of physical and psychological examinations, at the end of which M approved her return to the field, despite the fact that she had failed miserably (a fact of which M neglected to inform Lynd). Using a knife to reopen her shoulder wound, Lynd removed the shrapnel from the bullet Patrice fired into her. The resulting tests helped identify the man, and intelligence placed him in Shanghai, where he planned to carry out an assassination. Lynd was ordered to identify Patrice's employer, recover the stolen hard drive and kill Patrice. It was at this time that she was introduced to the new Quartermaster “Q”, who gave her a specially augmented weapon and a small radio transmitter.

Patrice killed his target, and then he and Lynd fought on the upper levels of a Shanghai skyscraper. During the fight, Patrice was knocked through the glass windows and while Lynd attempted to haul him back into the building, he fell to his death before she could learn of his employer. Searching Patrice's equipment, Lynd found a gambling chip intended as payment for the assassination. The chip lead her to a casino in Macau where Lynd approached Raoul, whom she had witnessed as an accomplice in the assassination. She flirts with him a bit but eventually asks to meet his employer. The very mention causes the young man to become visibly shaken for a moment and he warns her that she is about to be killed. Telling her the name of his ship, he promises to help her if she will kill his employer. He then left and his bodyguards attacked. Lynd defeated them however and rendezvoused with Raoul on his boat. They traveled to an abandoned island off the coast of Macau, where they were quickly taken prisoner by the crew and delivered to Raoul's employer, Sévérine. A former MI6 agent who had previously worked under M, Sévérine turned to cyberterrorism after spending time imprisoned and then sold into the sex slave trade due to M giving her up to the Chinese. Her experiences made her a cold and warped individual and as retribution, she orchestrated the attacks on MI6. Sévérine killed Raoul, but Lynd overpowered her guards and captured Sévérine for extraordinary rendition to Britain.

Once back at MI6's underground headquarters, Q attempted to decrypt Sévérine's laptop, but inadvertently enabled it to access the MI6 systems, allowing Sévérine to escape from MI6 custody. Immediately realizing Sévérine's capture was part of a plan to confront and kill M, Lynd gave chase through the tunnel network under London. Sévérine attacked M during a public inquiry into the handling of the stolen hard drive. But Lynd arrived in time to join Mallory and Eve in repelling Sévérine's attack, and M was hurried from the building by Bill Tanner. Lynd took the car M had entered, leaving Tanner behind and drove them to her storage unit where she swapped out the tracked government vehicle for her personal car; a customized Aston Martin. She then drove M to Skyfall, the Scottland located family estate and childhood home of her former lover James Bond. He had told her of the place during their brief vacation in Venice and only now did the memory of it return to her. Laying a trap, she instructed Q to leave an electronic trail for Sévérine to follow, a decision supported by Eve.

On arriving, Lynd and M were met by Kincade, the Skyfall gamekeeper. The trio were only lightly armed, but they improvised a series of booby traps throughout the house. When Sévérine's men arrived, Lynd, M and Kincade fought off the first assault, although M was wounded. Sévérine arrived by helicopter with a second wave, and Lynd sent M and Kincade off through a secret tunnel he’d shown them at the back of a priest hole to a chapel on the grounds. The second assault used firepower from the helicopter, and Sévérine threw incendiary grenades into the building. When Sévérine instructed the helicopter to destroy Lynd’s Aston Martin, an enraged Vesper detonated gas canisters with a stick of dynamite, retreating down the same tunnel as M and Kincade. The resulting blast caused the helicopter to crash, destroying the house and killing most of Sévérine's men. Unfortunately Sévérine was able to spot Kincade's torch beam in the distance and followed Kincade and M to the chapel. But not before confronting Lynd a second time, leaving the woman fighting one of her remaining henchmen in a freezing ice covered lake.

Upon reaching the chapel however Sévérine was distraught to see that M has been injured by one of her men. She pressed her gun into M's hand, begging M to kill them both. Lynd, having survived the fight with Sévérine's henchmen and the freezing lake, arrived just in time to throw a knife into Sévérine’s back, killing her. For a moment Vesper believed that was all, but M collapsed shortly after. With no time for a rescue, M died in Lynd’s arms. Following M's funeral, Gareth—formally introducing himself to Lynd as Gareth Mallory—retired from field work to become receptionist for the new head of MI6, Eve Moneypenny, who assumed the title of M.
